The PWT Centre for Innovation and Excellence (CIE) is the fulfillment of a longtime company vision to create a centre of training excellence for bus and coach drivers.

Launched in 2008, the Edmonton-based centre is accredited through the Motor Carrier Passenger Council of Canada (MCPCC) and became licensed as a provincial Driver Training School in 2019. The school provides training for our Employee Transportation and Student Transportation divisions. All of our instructors are certified Professional Bus Operators through the MCPCC and are licensed Driving Instructors through Alberta Transportation. Since opening, the CIE has graduated thousands of professional drivers.

With specially focused internal programs that encompass Driver Education, Winter Driving, Night Driving, Fatigue Management, and Health and Safety, PWT’s CIE thoroughly prepares drivers for the road ahead.

The CIE  has a dedicated and professional team responsible for creating online learning content to be used across the organization. Many of these courses, like WHMIS, complement our existing driver training programs while some provide more job-specific training like Web Fleet Assistant for shop staff. All combined, more than ten thousand course completions have been logged since the training site went live.
